Living in Lordship - Waterfront Homes in Stratford CT
Living on or near the waters of Long Island Sound in Fairfield County, CT can come at a hefty price. From Greenwich CT east to Stratford CT, there are many shoreline towns offering properties on or close to the beach.
One of the most affordable waterfront communities is Lordship, the southernmost section of Stratford CT. This small ‘by-the sea’ community is bound by Short Beach on the northeast side, the waters of Long Island Sound on the southern boundary and Long Beach on the southwest side.
Lordship features beautiful waterfront homes and cottages with panoramic views of Long Island Sound with private beaches and also offers hundreds of off-the-beach homes as well with many styles and prices to select from.
Beside condos and homes on or close to the water, what can you expect to find in Lordship?
Short Beach Golf Course is located at the entrance of Short Beach Park. The nine-hole par-3 layout has a distinct shoreline flavor, with views of Long Island Sound from most holes.
Short Beach Park is adjacent to the mouth of the Housatonic River, and provides a sandy beach and recreation for citizens of all ages.
Long Beach, located at the end of Oak Bluff Road, is approximately 1.5 miles in length, and provides a public beach area for bathing, sailboarding, and fishing. The middle sections of Long Beach are maintained as shorebird nesting areas.
Lordship is also home to the Stratford Point Lighthouse, where the mouth of the Housatonic River meets Long Island Sound. The lighthouse has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1990.
If you like living on or near the beach in a community that is close to I-95, Metro North, the Port Jefferson NY ferry, and the Sikorsky Memorial Airport, then Lordship’s homes for sale and real estate are worth a look.
